This error means that your computer or network is unable to establish a connection with the servers that are used to host Group Workouts.
In order to establish connection, TrainerRoad needs access to specific network ports. The necessary ports needed to establish connection could be blocked by firewall, VPN, or router settings.
Note: opening any ports could expose you to new security risks.
Windows: How to Adjust Connection Settings
First, disable any VPN (virtual private network) services. Then, confirm the necessary ports can be accessed by TrainerRoad.
In order to establish a connection, communication via TCP ports 19090, 19091, 19092, and 19093 must be allowed. To ensure the necessary ports aren't being blocked:
- Navigate to Control Panel.
- In System and Security, select Windows Defender Firewall.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- Select Inbound Rules.
- Select New Rule.
- Select TCP, and select Port.
- Under Specific local ports, enter 19090, 19091, 19092, 19093, then select Next.
- Select Allow the connection, and select Next.
- Select Domain, Private, and Public, and select Next.
- Enter a name for the newly created rule (e.g. 19090-19093 (TrainerRoad Group Workouts)).
- Select Finish.
- Navigate to Control Panel.
- In System and Security, select Windows Defender Firewall.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- Select Outbound Rules.
- Select New Rule.
- Select TCP, and select Port.
- Under Specific local ports, enter 19090, 19091, 19092, 19093, then select Next.
- Select Allow the connection, and select Next.
- Select Domain, Private, and Public, and select Next.
- Enter a name for the newly created rule (e.g. 19090-19093 (TrainerRoad Group Workouts)).
- Select Finish.
Note: if you're using a third party firewall, these steps may vary to ensure ports 19090-19093 are available to be accessed by TrainerRoad.
