If your payment to TrainerRoad didn’t go through, don’t worry—most payment issues are quick to fix! Here are the most common solutions for failed payment in TrainerRoad.
Update Payment Information
If you are a returning TrainerRoad athlete and your subscription is renewing your card may have expired or your payment details might need to updated.
If you have any uncertainty about your payment method on file we recommend updating your payment method from your TrainerRoad membership settings. You can access these through Account > Membership > Change Payment Method. Or you can update your payment method here:
Check with Your Bank
If your credit card information is accurate and up to date the next thing you will want to do is reach out to your bank. The number one reason for a valid payment method to fail is a blocked charge made by the bank.
Banks use fraud detection systems that may mistakenly flag TrainerRoad as suspicious. This can happen even if you've previously paid for TrainerRoad using the payment method you have on file. Updated fraud detection and policies on your banks end can cause your bank to block TrainerRoad charges.
What to do: Contact your bank and ask them to approve charges from TrainerRoad. Payments will automatically be tried again the next day.
Failed Payment Verification
Many cards now require payment verification for successful payments. Some of these verification steps don’t work properly on mobile browsers or when certain settings are enabled. To avoid issues, try these steps:
- Use a desktop browser (like Chrome or Safari)
- Disable any pop-up blockers from the browser settings
- Visit your Account Information page on the TrainerRoad website
- Turn off auto-fill and enter your card details manually
- Make sure your card info is entered correctly (MM/YY format for the expiration date, 3 or 4 digit CVV)
- Complete the ReCaptcha last before clicking "Renew subscription"
