What Are Personal Records?

Personal Records, otherwise known as PRs, show your highest power output for a specific period of time. From your best one-second power to your best two-hour power, it's easy to see your bests using our PR system no matter what sort of event you're training for.

PRs can be earned from both indoor and outside rides.

Achieving Personal Records

Achieving a PR is represented by a small trophy icon on any completed ride inside your TrainerRoad account.

This completed ride has earned PRs, represented by the small trophy icon.

When drilling into the details of a ride, you will also see how many season-specific and all-time PRs you've achieved for that particular workout.

Total PR count is shown next to the season, or all-time, name.

Why So Many Personal Records?

PRs will be different for every individual and rider type. The number next to the trophy icon represents how many PRs you achieved during that particular ride.

TrainerRoad calculates personal records every second, up to every 30 seconds depending on how long your ride was. Each rider type will have different goals and durations that are important for those specific athletes.

For example, sprint athletes will be interested in PRs for 30 seconds or less, while an endurance rider will want to see their performance over much greater durations.

Personal Records Breakdown

  • 0 to 5 minutes - PRs awarded for second
  • 5 to 30 minutes - PRs awarded every 5 seconds
  • 30 minutes to 2 hours - PRs awarded every 30 seconds
  • 2 hours and longer - PRs awarded every 5 minutes

Receiving personal records for the entirety of your ride gives you the option to focus on the PRs that mean the most to you and your riding type. Don't be surprised if you have a ride with a large number of personal records. That's a good thing!
